Our tour of Sri Lanka lasting nearly 2 weeks was a great success and covered a wide selection of venues. We had to miss out on Galle as a result of tsunami damage to the town, however nowhere else was affected apart from a huge reduction in the number of overseas visitors, apparently put off by the disaster.

Following an earlier auction, a garage sale of the radio estate of Colin, VK2DYM, was held at his home on 5/6/05. About 20 tons of military and commercial radio gear had been stored unopened in the 3 shipping containers since his move to the site about 5 years ago. Most was badly damaged by water, so although many items should have been very collectable, few, if any, sets would be likely to operate, certainly not without a great deal of effort. Quite a few items were sold, mainly in the $5-20 price range and will no doubt end up as parts or on a shelf.

I bought quite a few items, mainly for spares I wanted or for display only and as such were good value for the price. The PRC-64 below was from this source. The bulk of the material will probably end up as landfill.
