Minifon wire recorders were introduced in 1951 for clandestine voice recording by government and private agencies. The P55 made from 1955, was a portable office recorder but is less suitable for covert use due to its knobs.

After 10+ years Oscar was diagnosed with terminal cancers and experiencing considerable discomfort. These pictures were taken when we farewelled him at the vet clinic. The shaved patches are where the ultra-sound was attached and the bandage for his sedation.

Here are some pictures of our visit to this wonderful country. Despite some having reservations about the government's attitude to human rights, there is much to be seen and you will be welcomed by everyone you come across. Many attractions relate to to the Buddhist religion which has some 500,000 monks. They are not involved in social issues so are no problem to the military government. Due to economic sanctions by some Western countries, there is welcome absence of US institutions and tourists.

These pictures show the steam shed at Bago where 4 oil fired locomotives of the metre gauge Myanmar system were being housed. This is one of the last bastions in the world of operational steam working on a national railway. Unfortunately none were in steam at the time of my visit.

An example of a working railway station that operates in 2005 much as it did when it was built in the 1870s. The pictures include the track layout, the Tyer single track safe working equipment as well as signals and signal box. The motive power is however diesel and the track gauge 5'6".
I have included a few other rail pictures taken on the trip.
